The Pesolillo Agricultural Estate was founded in 1961 when grandfather Domenico sensed the viticultural potential of the wonderful Colle Rotondo on the outskirts of Chieti, close to the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo.

A family-run estate that also produces organic wines, Pesolillo Tenuta Agricola is committed to tradition while also focusing on a more contemporary style of working in the winery, where attention to detail and technology are crucial to the wine-making process.

Besides the wine production, the family-owned property is known for traditional production of beer, olive oil, pantry products, whereas one could also book an apartment and stay overnight and dine in the restaurant on the premise.

Very recently, Pesolillo Tenuta Agricola has joined London Awards 2022 and won a Gold Medal in this prestigious competition for several products:

The Winery Export Manager and a family member, Mr. Lorenzo Pesolillo shares valuable insight into the winery operation and market strategy in the interview below:

Q. Do you already export to London?

A. We don’t export yet to London, and we are looking for distributors that would like to work with small/medium organic winery, specially for the on-trade channel.

Q. What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors?

A. We are a family of 5 (my parents, me and 2 brothers) taking care the tradition of our territory and vineyards. We taking care all the steps of production: from vineyards to the bottles (we are not just bottlers), following the organic way of work. We produce Pecorino, Rosé and 3 different MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO, one of them (the vintage 2021) is what I call “our bet” because is a Montepulciano d’Abruzzo style that almost no other winery in Abruzzo makes in their portfolio. This wine is fruity and fresh: it’s the authentic expression of the grapes in the glass. 

I would like to invite the wines operators to taste this wine and give us a feedback.

We also have a farm holiday since 2002 and it’s a good way for potential customers to understand the origin of our wines.

Q. When did you start to export your brand worldwide, and what is your development plan for the next years?

A. The awarded bottles are a new project for our winery that we presented for the first time in Vinitaly fair 2022. Our ambitious plan for next years is to reach distributors & importers that are looking for good organic wines. This year we have a potential production of 50 K organic bottles.
